History
Our history starts in 1973 starting out as a steel stockholder however moving through the years making strategic decisions and acquisitions our business has steadily developed and grown into a mature, trusted, customer focused manufacturing leader offering turnkey steel solutions.
1973
Parent Company Watson-Towers is established
Steel stockholder and metal processing plant established in Wishaw, the heart of Scottish Steel manufacturing.
1980
Acquisition of Frank Duncan Engineering
Cairnhill Structures Ltd is established offering Design, Structural Steelwork and Heavy Engineering.
1992
Group moves to Sun Works.
All subsidiaries consolidated into one 120,000 ft2 site at the Sun Works, a former Steel Foundry and one of the remaining sites operating in Steel Manufacturing to this day.
1999
Further acquisitions by Group.
The Group purchases the assets of David Waddell Engineering and Milroy Engineering - producing a range of boilers, specialist pipework and spares.
2001
Further Expansion.
Increased activity within the steelwork business results in the acquisition of Findlay Campbell (Blacksmiths) increasing capacity and capability in specialist welding services.
2005
Steel Framing Division Established
Cairnhill start their Light Gauge Steel Framing Division - giving a fast track innovative building system to make them wind and watertight quickly.
2010
Steel Solutions under one roof
The subsidiary companies amalgamate to create Cairnhill as one company offering steel solution in all their respective sectors under one roof.
2017
Piling and Storage Tanks Divisions created
Both divisions created continuing the trend to diversify and push into new UK markets.
